New Exhibit in Special Collections

August 28th, 2012

The exhibit “Wooster-in-the-World: The Middle East, India, and Africa” is currently on display in Special Collections, The College of Wooster Libraries. This exhibit documents Wooster’s connections to other continents and cultures.

In the 1890s, a “missionary alcove” was established in the library as a pledge of support for Presbyterian missionary activities on campus. Works from the Missionary Alcove Collection are represented here, as well as several sacred texts. The display features a scorched 1831 Arabic Bible from the Library of President A.E.E. Taylor that was saved from the December 1901 Old Main fire.

The exhibit is available for viewing Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. August 27- October 12, 2012. Special arrangements can be made for classes or small groups to view more materials from any of these collections. For more information contact Denise Monbarren (x2527) or Elaine Smith Snyder (x2155).
