Wilder at Wooster

April 1st, 2010

The Department of Special Collections, The College of Wooster Libraries, is marking the 60th anniversary of the campus production of “Our Town.” In May 1950, Wooster welcomed Thornton Wilder to campus to star as Stage Manager in a production of his Pulitzer Prize- winning play. After the production, the playwright maintained close ties with many faculty members up until the time of his death in 1975. The display highlights photographs, clippings, books, and memorabilia from our College Archives Collection, Rare Books Collection, and The W. Stanley Schutz Theatre Collection. These materials will be on display March 22 – May 10, 2010. Special arrangements can be made for classes or small groups to view additional works from this collection. For more information, contact Denise Monbarren (ext. 2527) or Elaine Smith Snyder (ext. 2155).
